Multimodal regimes in a compartmental model of the dopamine neuron
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study chains of strongly electrically coupled relaxation oscillators modeling dopamine neurons. When individual oscillators are in the regime close to an Andronov–Hopf bifurcation (AHB), the coupled system exhibits a variety of oscillatory behavior. We show that the proximity of individual oscillators to the AHB has a significant impact on the system dynamics in a wide range of parameters. It manifests itself through a family of stable multimodal periodic solutions that are composed out of large-amplitude relaxation oscillations and small-amplitude oscillations. This family of solutions has a rich bifurcation structure. The waveform and the period vary greatly across the family. The structure and bifurcations of the stable periodic solutions of the coupled system are investigated using numerical and analytic techniques. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Dopamine-Synthesizing Neurons: An Overview of Their Development and Application for Cell Therapy
Cell-gene therapy is a dynamic constituent of novel medical biotechnology. Neurodegenerative disordersin which damage to or demise of specific brain cell types plays central role, are clear examples of diseasecandidate for cell replacement therapy. Dopaminergic (DAergic) neurons biosynthesize dopamine, a vitalneurotransmitter in the central nervous system. Due to the involveme...
متن کاملA Model of Time-dependent Biodistribution of 153Sm-Maltolate Complex and Free 153Sm Cation Using Compartmental Analysis
Introduction Compartmental analysis allows the mathematical separation of tissues and organs to determine activity concentration in each point of interest. Biodistribution studies on humans are costly and complicated, whereas such assessments can be easily performed on rodents. In this study, we aimed to develop a pharmacokinetic model of 153Sm-maltolate complex as a novel therapeutic agent and...
متن کاملCapturing Dopaminergic Modulation and Bimodal Membrane Behaviour of Striatal Medium Spiny Neurons in Accurate, Reduced Models
Loss of dopamine from the striatum can cause both profound motor deficits, as in Parkinson's disease, and disrupt learning. Yet the effect of dopamine on striatal neurons remains a complex and controversial topic, and is in need of a comprehensive framework. We extend a reduced model of the striatal medium spiny neuron (MSN) to account for dopaminergic modulation of its intrinsic ion channels a...
متن کاملCapacitated Multimodal Structure of a Green Supply Chain Network Considering Multiple Objectives
In this paper, a supply chain network design problem is explained which contains environmental concerns in arcs and nodes of network. It is assumed that there are some routes such as road, rail and etc. in each pair of nodes. In this model decision variables are choosing facilities to open, environmental investment level in each facility and flow of products between nodes in each route. A multi...
متن کاملA model for distribution centers location-routing problem on a multimodal transportation network with a meta-heuristic solving approach
Nowadays, organizations have to compete with different competitors in regional, national and international levels, so they have to improve their competition capabilities to survive against competitors. Undertaking activities on a global scale requires a proper distribution system which could take advantages of different transportation modes. Accordingly, the present paper addresses a location-r...
